Suspected bandits attacked Ungushi, Gwandi and Maikurfuna communities in Kebbe LGA of Sokoto State on Saturday night, reportedly killing several men, wounding two residents and rustling more than 300 cattle and seven camels. Residents, including women, children and the elderly, fled to Kebbe town.
More than 300 suspected Lakurawa militants on motorcycles reportedly entered Kebbe town in Kebbe LGA, Sokoto State, engaging soldiers from a nearby military base in a gun battle, looting shops, damaging a military vehicle and vandalising vehicles at the General Hospital before withdrawing westward. A Sokoto-based security expert said four soldiers were killed, though police said they could not confirm casualties.
Bandits attacked Unguwar Aminu community in Kandarawa Ward of Bakori LGA, Katsina State, on Tuesday night, killing two residents, abducting six (three men and three women) and wounding four by gunfire. Livestock were rustled and shops burgled; residents reportedly began fleeing the community.
Kidnappers ambushed commuters along the Ajaokuta-Itobe road in Ofu LGA, Kogi State, abandoning two vehicles and taking passengers into the bush.
